An intensive Thai language course and Authentic rural Thai experience will teach the student to communicate in the Thai language like a Thai. Guided by the knowledge and the charisma of Mind Your Language Founder, Kru Jom Nawa, and interact with the locals led by our incredible hosts, Phra Saeng native Jack and his wife Michelle, who have been offering tourists premium excursions for 15 years and the owners of Baan Farang Homestay Phra Saeng.
The Intensive Thai language course and Authentic Thai experience first course were held in October and were a success. The student’s feedback was excellent they enjoyed trying the local village breakfasts daily and lunch. The afternoon activities involved visiting an Organic Garden which is owned by Khun Sow, the tour of Baan Farang Homestay Phra Saeng fruit garden, rubber tapping, and having great fun watching Jack climb the Betel Nut trees.
The Thai breakfast and Thai lunches are cooked and delivered from various local food stalls and restaurants around Phra Saeng to share a little business with the locals and to be part of the first such course like this in Southern Thailand is a fantastic sense of community presence.
On Graduation day the village headman’s government assistant Khun Ploy came to hand out the certificates to each student. She sat with the students and communicated with them in Thai and she also had the chance to practice her English language skills.

Breakfast & Lunch:
Breakfast will be served at 8 am. Thai breakfast will be served with fruits or Thai snacks. Americano Coffee or Tea included.
Lunch will be served at 1 pm after class. Authentic Thai lunch to include light curries, soups, or vegetable dishes.
Afternoon Activities:
Monday – 3 pm: visit Phra Saeng old village, along the river. See traditional teak Thai homes, both located on the road and styled homes over the river. Visit the Monday market which runs through part of the old village. Finishing at the river restaurant on the Tapee River to sample local dishes
Tuesday – 3 pm: visit an organic fruit plantation owned and worked on by a young local lady, K. Sow. She is part of the Government Young Farmers Group, which educates people on how to set up and grow their own organic garden, so locals to live off their land as their ancestors did many years ago.
Wednesday – 3 pm A visit to the local market
Thursday – 3 pm Quiz on fruit tree names and questions on Rubber Tapping at Baan Farang Homestay. 3 pm A demonstration of rubber tapping on Baan Farang Homestay grounds. A tour of our fruits and nut trees to learn the names in Thai.
Friday – Graduation – A visit to the seafood, meat, and fish market to purchase items for the BBQ (at cost of the student)

Thai Course Descriptions – Level 1
- Greetings and partings, formal and informal, politely.
- Asking and answering “yes” and “no” questions and numbers (1 – 10,000).
- Making basic sentence structures included the transformation of questions.
- Introducing yourself and asking for your name, surname, full name, and how to spell it.
- General useful phrases such as excuse me, sorry, you’re welcome, nice to meet you, pardon me? etc.
- Making sentences about nationalities with your classmates including creating questions.
- Asking Thai people what part of or province in Thailand they are from.
- Talk about what job you have and find out what others do for a living.
- Making negative sentences of to be (is not, am not, are not).
- Learning can, cannot, and can you?…combine with availability, ability, and permission.
- Phrases for learning more Thai such as what is this called in Thai? What does it mean? Etc.
- Ordering food and drink items and describing in basic detail including offering the items.
